Introduced towards the end of 2005, Nordic Saunas' new Luxus range has been developed to offer a fresh concept in tiled steam room design which is both stylish and functional.
Moving away away from the conventional tiled finish of a steam room - where the seating can suffer from protruding tiles and not only be cold and uninviting sometimes but also present problems with cleaning - Luxus features seating made of a white, 6mm thick acrylic sheet that is coloured throughout, polished to a high gloss and supported by a structural glass fibre backing.
This design, which is well insulated and incorporates a self-drain facility, results in a more comfortable seat which is easy to clean and stays warm.
All the visible walls in Luxus are tiled and Nordic offers a range of standard tiles that can be used. However, they can also obtain tiles from virtually any supplier so that almost any style or design can be catered for. Tiling is usually a mosaic but the company says it can just as easily be large format.
Three new lighting features have been included, one being a fibre optic system fitted in the ceiling and which provides a subtle, relaxing light. Another is Nordic's corner glass screen, a series of small lights run behind curved glass in the corners of the room and designed to give out a subtle, diffused light.
A third option is spotlighting on the underside of the benches, purely cosmetic and used to light up the floor of the steam room and enhance the tiling or floor design.
All of them can be used separately or in conjunction with one another and are all available in either white or colour phasing light.
