The refurbished Woodbourn Road Stadium in Sheffield has been upgraded in light of the closure of the famous Don Valley Stadium and will be renamed Sheffield Hallam University City Athletics Stadium. The equipment supplier provided two Cantabrian international pole vault beds, two Cantabrian international high jump beds, wheel away covers, as well as a full range of other equipment. The stadium will play host to the university, City of Sheffield Athletic Club and Hallamshire Harriers. In a separate contract, Athletics Direct was also selected to supply and install a new hammer/discus cage at Leverhulme Park Athletics Stadium in Bolton. The company said a tight deadline necessitated the project being completed in “record time”, to ensure it was ready for the stadium's first ever Youth Development League meeting. Particular attention was paid to making the installation as secure and vandal proof as possible, as the stadium had previously suffered from vandalism.
