The statistics about men's health are staggering, and the links between fitness and good mental and physical health are undeniable
– John Treharne, CEO, The Gym Group
The Gym Group has partnered with The Movember Foundation, pledging to raise £50,000 towards men’s health.

In a move which highlights the links between fitness and good physical and mental health, throughout November 100 gyms across the UK will inspire members to take on in-gym fitness challenges and raise funds.

As part of 'Movember' The Gym Group will encourage members to ‘Move for Movember’ by taking on challenges such as ’Row to the home of Mo’, ‘Trek the Inca Trail,’ ‘Climb Mount Everest’ and ‘Run the marathon de Sables.’

John Treharne, CEO of The Gym Group, said: “The facts and statistics about men’s health are staggering and the links between fitness and good mental and physical health are undeniable – that’s why we’ve partnered with Movember.

“Move is for anyone, anywhere. It’s not about being the fittest or going the furthest. It’s about getting out there, having fun and doing good by raising funds along the way. It's not about losing pounds – it's about raising them.”

The Movember Foundation funds game-changing health projects and research to tackle testicular and prostate cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

Owen Sharp, CEO of the Movember Foundation, said: “Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends are at risk of dying too early, from conditions such as at prostate cancer, testicular cancer and illnesses related to mental health issues. We need to talk about it. We need to act.

“Our corporate partners play an invaluable role in helping to increase the visibility of the causes supported by Movember. Their ability to raise vital funds through their internal participation and marketing efforts will help spark important conversations.”
