UNWTO focuses on tech investment at World Travel Market
POSTED 07 Nov 2018 . BY Luke Cloherty
Both panels were moderated by CNN’s business correspondent Richard Quest
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) hosted this year’s Minister’s Summit at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London yesterday (6 November 2018) on the topic of Investment in Tourism Technology.

Continuing the conversation on innovation and digital transformation in tourism, which began at the celebrations for World Tourism Day 2018 – on 27 September – in Budapest, the organisation invited a panel of private investors to talk about investment in tourism technology.

It then followed this up with the ministerial segment that linked both the public and private sectors to ensure that digital transformation enhances inclusion, sustainability and competitiveness.

Both panels were moderated by CNN’s business correspondent Richard Quest, anchor of Quest Means Business and focussed on innovative ideas and partnerships that can boost investment.

Also at WTM, UNWTO launched a whitepaper on the role of music in tourism development, marketing and experiences and the economic benefits of music and tourism sector partnerships, which it has produced in collaboration with Procolombia and Sound Diplomacy.

The paper, called Music is the New Gastronomy, accompanied a panel exploring the value of music tourism in depth.

The WTM has been a three-day event in London culminating today.
