Universal has confirmed rumours for its new Harry Potter-themed rollercoaster, unveiling Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which opens later this year.

A new poster for the ride shows a plunging coaster that will shuttle visitors on motorbikes through the Wizarding World area on a looping rail.

The ride, which is currently under construction, will replace the park's Dragon Challenge dual coasters, which closed in 2017.

Universal Creative has worked in collaboration with Warner Bros and the production design team from the Harry Potter films on the coaster project.

The ride has been described as one of the most highly-themed coaster experiences ever created by Universal and will be located in the Hogsmeade area of Islands of Adventure in the Wizarding World’s Orlando site.

"Universal Orlando Resort today revealed the name and opening date for the highly-anticipated, new adventure coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter this summer," read a statement from Universal Orlando.

"Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will open on 13 June 2019 in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and feature the most highly-themed coaster yet.

"For the first time ever, guests will fly with Hagrid on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the path of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures."
