Tabata has partnered with the Indoor Cycling Group (ICG) for the release of the cycle class. In it, muscles are warmed up and the heart rate is raised in preparation for a high intensity four minute burst of cycling which pushes participants to their limits. This is followed by a sequence of strength and recovery movements to bring the heart rate back down again. According to the partners, the ‘Tabata Cycle - Powered By ICG’ workout provides an effective method of increasing both aerobic and anaerobic fitness, while offering maximal tone, strength and conditioning. “This will enable participants to experience the benefits of our group exercise classes not only with the bodyweight format, but now in a cycle class which takes us back to our roots of how the Tabata protocol was born, tested and proven in the lab,” commented Helen Parker, executive vice president of acquisitions at NBCUniversal.
