DW Sports pumps £1m into Fitness First Bishopsgate

The mind and body studio will offer yoga and Pilates classes
Fitness First Bishopsgate, part of the DW Fitness First Group, has undergone a £1m refurbishment, with cash being spent on a new swimming pool, mind and body studio, steamroom and changing rooms.

The revamp is part of the group’s ongoing investment across the estate of 44 UK-based Fitness First clubs following the purchase of the brand by DW Sports in September last year.

The mind and body studio, which offers yoga and Pilates, adds 35 classes to the club's timetable of group exercise sessions, which also include Les Mills, Fitness First's signature freestyle group training and indoor cycle classes in its other studios.

The mind and body studio has also been fitted with virtual class capability.

The 5,000sq ft (465sq m) Bishopsgate facility is the fourth central London Fitness First operation to house a swimming pool, and is classed by the company as a tier one club.

“This latest investment shows our ongoing commitment to strengthening and building the Fitness First brand in the UK. Having a swimming pool in another of our central London sites really sets Fitness First apart as a premium offering," said Martin Long, DW Sports chief executive.

“With five clubs in close proximity, our new connected membership allows not only our members at the Bishopsgate club but at all clubs to have even more choice of facilities in central London.”

DW Fitness First Group operates more than 120 facilities across the country.
