Lanserhof Tegernsee develops new sleep quality programme
POSTED 06 Dec 2018 . BY Jane Kitchen
The Lanserhof Tegernsee in Germany has launched a new sleep programme that combines the latest technical equipment with naturopathic insights to optimise sleep quality.

The LANS Better Sleep Programme 2.0 has been designed by Lanserhof’s medical team to offer a multidimensional approach for optimising sleep quality. The programme uses a number of scientific diagnostic methods in order to identify disruptive factors, and to screen for any underlying medical triggers of poor sleep.

"The reasons for bad sleep are individual,” said Dr Jan Stritzke, deputy medical director at Lanserhof Tegernsee. “We get to the bottom of the triggers and provide our patients with a multi-faceted therapeutic approach, in which they lay the foundation for a healthier and more balanced life at Lanserhof."

The programme includes three core components of diagnostics, quality of sleep during the stay and therapy.

At the beginning of a stay, guests undergo a detailed sleep medical analysis, carried out by a specialist. Within this framework, the laboratory prepares a neurostress profile, examining the relevant neurotransmitters involved in driving wakefulness and sleep. A further micronutrient analysis is performed to help uncover vital substance deficiencies to identify the requirements that will bring the body back to a healthy balance.

Each guest‘s individualised sleep programme is accompanied by multidimensional therapy; from respiratory muscle training with a Lanserhof physiotherapist; to Chronotherapie, which takes the sleep-awake rhythm into focus; and finally use of a specially designed mouthguard to minimise snoring.

The tailored therapies are supplemented by white-noise reduction, self-awareness training and evening meditations. In addition, light therapy for evening stress reduction is an integral part of the programme.

At Lanserhof Tegernsee, two suites are also equipped with new FreshBeds, which use technology to create an optimal sleep climate, minimising disruption due to overheating or being too cold. The beds are designed with a silent unit inside the bed’s base that filters air from the surroundings, delivering it to the body through the ergonomic mattress. The mattress is kept at the ideal temperature, as well as dry and fresh, with an aim to create a longer and deeper sleep.

Smart sleepwear is also provided to guests, which has been specially designed to aid the FreshBeds mattress in regulating body temperature.

Each room at Lanserhof Tegernsee also includes a kill-switch button which blocks out all wi-fi and harmful electrosmog within the room with one click.

Blue filter glasses are shared with guests to help filter out the harmful types of light in the blue light spectrum, aiding a more natural sleep rhythm. Too much exposure to blue light (the type of light found in electrical devices such as phone screens and television screens) suppresses the secretion of melatonin, a hormone used to regulate sleep cycles.

Nights at Lanserhof are completed with biological aromatherapy by Nacht – a brand specifically developed by sleep scientists – as well as specially curated music to lull the body and mind into a state of deep relaxation.
