Southall Manor House revamp plans unveiled
POSTED 10 Mar 2010 . BY Pete Hayman
More than £500,000 is set to be invested in the refurbishment of Southall Manor House in west London after Ealing Council unveiled plans for the restoration of the Elizabethan building.

The council's cabinet met on 23 February to agree funding for the project, which will include essential repairs and work to the roof over the next two years. The exterior will be repainted.

An archaeologist will join the project team during the next few months in order to survey the historic building before work is able to get underway on the renovation programme.

Plans are also being drawn up to improve the grounds of Southall Manor House with the restoration of the pool and garden, as well as introducing a new community history scheme.

Ealing Council leader Jason Stacey said: "The council is keen to regenerate every corner of the borough, and there is already a lot of work underway to improve Southall.

"The Manor House is one of the borough's gems and this investment will go a long way to preserving it so generations can come and learn about its history."
