Ritz-Carlton property Hotel Arts Barcelona - choses WTS International to assist in rebranding its new spa

July 25 2014: (Washington DC) WTS International (WTS), the global spa consultancy and contract operator, has opened a new spa for high end hotel group Ritz Carlton at Hotel Arts, Barcelona, Spain.

The WTS-designed facility - called 43 The Spa, due to its location on the hotel's 43rd floor - replaces a Six Senses spa. Susie Hammer, vice president of spa at WTS explains: "Ritz Carlton's Hotel Arts Barcelona is constantly looking for new ways to enrich the guest experience, and after listening to feedback, the company decided repositioning and relaunching the spa would make it a popular addition to the hotel's facilities.

"Hotel Arts Barcelona decided to take on the direct operation of the spa at the property and turned to WTS to assist with the relaunch", she said. "Working with spa director, Alexandra Martinez, we worked on the spa's new menu, assisted with hiring a team of service professionals and selected Spanish skincare line Natura Bissé to be the exclusive product line at 43 The Spa.

"Also based in Barcelona, Natura Bissé is known as a leader in the luxury skincare market for its innovative use of active ingredients," she said, "This made it a natural fit for 43 The Spa, with its aim of evoking the feeling of being a results-driven, urban oasis for guests." The spa reopened in July following a facelift.

Martinez says: "WTS helped us tremendously with expert advice and professional insights when introducing our new spa. They also helped us take the right decisions when positioning 43 The Spa in the initial phase, ensuring a successful launch. With its stunning views from the 43rd floor and a range of exclusive treatments by Natura Bissé, we're confident 43 The Spa will be an outstanding success and will become a destination in its own right for visitors looking to relax and rejuvenate in stylish surroundings."

The facility now includes eight treatment rooms - some of which have panoramic views of the waterfront. All have had chromotherapy lighting installed. The spa's wet zone, supplied by Klafs, comprises saunas, colour-therapy steamrooms, vitality pools and ice fountains. The spa also has a relaxation room and open terrace - both with views of the Spanish coastline. The property has an existing fitness centre.

The first of two exclusive treatments developed for the spa is 'The Sublime Diamond Journey' which uses magnetic energy to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin in conjunction with a Shirodhara massage using aromatherapy oils and small shells applied to pressure points. The other - The 43 Sea Experience - for smoother, firmer skin is a treatment that incorporates chiropractic-style techniques performed with sea shells and aromatherapy oils.

Hotel Arts Barcelona attracts a cosmopolitan crowd of guests from around the world who are looking to visit the cultural hotspots and iconic sights of Barcelona. 43 The Spa is perfectly located on the beachfront, with some of the best views over Frank Gehry's 'Peix' - one of the world's most eye-catching sculptures.
