From the centre of attention to the centre of gravity

Atomic Sports, UK and Ireland distributors of the innovative Flybar (LK, March 2005), introduced the KMX to the leisure industry at LIW recently.

Designed and built from an aerospace background, the KMX is a three-wheeled cross between a BMX and a go-kart, claimed to move faster than the former and capable of performing stunts, skids, jumps and tricks which would be impossible on the latter.

The KMX has a carbon steel frame with a specially designed new sports seat and Ackerman & centre point steering geometry and comes in two models.

The X Class - for adults - has WinZip disk brakes on all three wheels, Maxxis Hookworm high pressure tyres and 24 twist grip operated Shimano gears. The K Class - for children aged between six and fourteen - has twist grip gears, drum brakes on the front and a V-brake on the back and also features a sliding seat and sliding front boom which allows for eight inches of leg length adjustment.

The X Class comes in black and retails at £599.00 and the K Class is available in red and black and retails at £299.00. Compatibility with standard bike components means that the KMX can be customised to a riders own specifications.

Both models comply with the relevant European and UK safety requirements and Atomic Sports recommends that proper protection - such as helmet and gloves - be worn when the KMX is being ridden.
