Centre Screen Productions has recently completed work on over 90 audio, a/v and multimedia exhibits for the new Hong Kong Wetland Park in Tin Shui Wai.
One of the five exhibition areas involved is the Wetland TV gallery, designed to represent a busy international tv production centre. Acting as trainee investigative reporters, visitors swipe 'Press Pass' ID cards in order to log their scores at five key activities.
These range from covert missions to uncover environmental hazards at a commercial mining site, to managing water resources by taking charge of a dam control room. The challenges make extensive use of 3D modelling, filmed presenter sequences and a range of interface controls including joysticks and touchscreens.
The centrepiece of the gallery is a Quiz Show exhibit where visitors test their wetland knowledge in a show hosted by a virtual quizmaster. The questions are selected at random by the computer from a bank of options and visitors can join at any part of the show.
Elsewhere, the Living Wetland gallery uses a combination of ambient, reflective media alongside touchscreen interpretation to give visitors access to information on various wetland habitats, while at the same time triggering large-scale, projected displays of animations exloring that habitat's flora and fauna.
Centre Screen also created an introductory film for the Park, setting the context for the whole visitor experience and displayed in a 150-seater theatre with Dolby 5.1 surround sound.
