Ceramics company Floor Gres has introduced Ecotech, sinterised porcelain stoneware created from recycled material.
The result of research into ways of transforming rejects into resources, Ecotech flooring is the first project produced at industrial level that reuses the powders, pastes and residues from the manufacture of other products to create a new composite material.
It has a textured design, with the chips and grains being used in the production process serving to create natural effects and random irregularities on the surface.
Ecotech comes in four colours - Ecogreen, Ecogray, Ecoblack and Ecolight - and in tile sizes of 20 x 20cm, 20 x 40cm, 40 x 40cm, 40 x 80cm, 60 x 60cm and 60 x 120cm. Two surface finishes are available, natural and structured. The use of the two surfaces helps to provide continuity between external and internal application.
The tiles are resistant to frost, thermal shocks, chemical aggression, staining and wear and the colours are light fast.
