The new B-Free unit can be used to perform the same tasks as the static epos system, the company claiming that – since it had the technology to build it in – it saw no reason to limit the handheld’s functionality.

The B-Free is slightly larger than a PDA and its screen layout follows the design of the static EPoS, meaning that staff do not have to learn a whole new system.

It has an extended battery life and the issue of handhelds which ‘go missing’ has been addressed by making it function with one of I-Control’s own base stations only. Once it is taken off site it won’t work.

All I-Control systems are Chip & Pin compliant and offer both static and wireless solutions for handling the new breed of smart credit cards.
