The electrically powered MAS Mower 01combines a conventional 36in-wide, six-bladed cutting cylinder with a laser-guided, computer-controlled steering system which can be pre-programmed to follow any path across the turf.

Also, it not only cuts the grass by itself but can sense when the 70ltr high-tip grass collector is full, go and empty it and then return to the point at which it left off.

The mower’s guidance system consists of a long-range laser scanner fitted on top of the machine, which operates in conjunction with a series of reflectors situated around the area being mown. On-board micro-processors linked to the laser continuously monitor the mower’s position, adjusting the steering when necessary.

Standard on-board safety features include ultrasonic obstacle detection, soft bumpers at back and front, a warning sounder, a flashing beacon, operator manual override and three emergency stop buttons.

Power is by rechargeable batteries and – at an average working speed of 2mph – the machine can cut about 10,000sq m/2 acres before it needs recharging.
