Alton Towers is just one of the attractions which makes up the Tussauds Group and when it needed new signs for two of its rides, the park turned to specialist graphics and sign maker, William Smith.
One of the rides, Spinball Whizzer, is themed like a giant pinball machine and is completely new. The other, Flume Unplugged by Imperial Leather, is a refurbishment of an existing ride and it needed new signage for its redesigned styling of ‘Bathtime with attitude’.
Tussauds’ weren’t looking for an ‘off the shelf’ product and William Smith was able to design, develop and supply a complete bespoke package which incorporated graphics, framing, overall image and finish.
A total of 45 signs were made for the Spinball Whizzer, using Alform trim stove enamelled to a full red gloss to match the border on other graphic and promotional items.
Flume Unplugged gained 59 signs, which featured a bull-nose trim designed to recreate the look of an old-fashioned roll-top bath.
