Showing at LIW recently was Louisville-based Aquatic Access, manufacturers of lift systems for swimming pools and spas.
The company’s range of IGAT-180 in-ground models is claimed to meet or exceed the requirements of both the recently introduced DDA legislation in the UK and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for pool lifts in the US.
Each of the three systems has upper and lower controls within close reach and all are powered by water pressure from either a hose connection or a plumbed-in line.
Side-to-side transfers are easy, with the footrest flipping up and the mounting arm being under the seat, allowing wheelchair access and unobstructed transfer. The seats automatically turn forward into the pool or spa, travel 42in vertically and can be stopped or reversed at any point.
Of the three models, the IGAT-180 and the 180/135 are installed against the pool wall and can lift 400lbs, the former having 180? seat rotation and the latter, for pools or spas with benches, 135?.
As the name implies, the IGAT-180 Above Deck is designed so that the entire lift is out of the water until the seat enters, ideal for pools with automatic covers or with raised copings. It has seat rotation of 180? and can lift 350lbs.
Available as options are a flip-up armrest, full-support adjustable headrest, chest and lap belts, vinyl-liner wall pad, a rescue board attachment and blue or green seats instead of the standard white.
