Expansion plans for Mandara Spa
POSTED 30 Jun 2005 . BY
Steiner Leisure, which operates the Mandara Spa brand of premium destination spas, has agreed management contracts for seven new sites.

Two of the new spas will be located in Malaysia – one at the Marriott hotel in Miri and the other at the Pacific Suetra in Kota Kinabalu – while two more will be located in resorts in Koror, the capital of the Pacific Island of Palau.

In the north Maldives, Mandara will expand by opening spas at the Island Hideaway in Dhonakulhi in July 2005 and at the Lonuhuahutta Resort in December 2006.

Steiner has also entered into an agreement to build and operate a new luxury spa facility at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort in Wailea, Maui, Hawaii.

The new property will replace the existing, much smaller facility currently operated at the resort by Mandara.

In total, Mandara will provide US$2.45m (£1.4m, 2.03m euros) of funding towards the building costs of the seven projects.

Leonard Fluxman, president and chief executive officer of Steiner Leisure, said: “We are expanding our global scope by cultivating new relationships and extending our existing affiliations with luxury resorts, such as the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort.”

Steiner operates 51 resort spas and 118 spas aboard cruise ships. It also owns the Elemis brand of spa products and day spas
