IceSheffield extends free school skating sessions
POSTED 10 Nov 2005 . BY
A free ice skating scheme at the IceSheffield centre has been extended to include children from Rotherham, it has been announced.

The free four-week learn to skate sessions, with the option of additional classroom-based activity are being offered to schools across Rotherham.

The scheme – which is being run by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), the company which runs IceSheffield – has already attracted more than 2,000 Sheffield school children to experience free ice skating lessons, including the chance to try ice hockey and figure skating.

Steve Brailey, chief executive of SIV said: "The course has been extremely popular in Sheffield, so we decided to offer it to a wider catchment area. We are looking forward to welcoming hundreds of Rotherham school children to IceSheffield as part of this initiative."

The programme is being funded by Sheffield City Trust with a £42,000 grant.
