MLT to acquire Kingpin properties
POSTED 22 Jun 2006 . BY Helen Patenall
Australia-based Macquarie Leisure Trust (MLT) has the announced the acquisition of several Kingpin Bowling properties in Melbourne, Australia.

The AUS$10.8m (£4.3m, 6.3m euro, US$8m) deal includes two Kingpin Bowling centres as well as two Kingpin-associated Crown Casino entertainment venues – Galactic Circus and M9 Laser Wars.

The group will double the number of bowling lanes at the Crown Casino facility from eight to 16, in addition to expanding the Galactic Circus entertainment venue.

MLT also plans to build a new Kingpin Bowling centre at Darling Harbour in Sydney – called Kingpin Harbourside – subject to planning approval.

Macquarie entertainment development group owner and director, Gary Berman, said: “The powerful combination of bowling, games, pool tables, food and beverage will be featured in the flagship location in Sydney. Expansion of the facilities at Crown Casino will ensure that this location retains its position as the country’s best entertainment venue.”

MLT owns 45 AMF bowling centres throughout Australia, the Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast as well as marinas in New South Wales and Victoria. Details: ww.macquarie.com
