POSTED 10 Oct 2006 . BY Helen Patenall
A US$82m (£43.9m, 65m euro) development called America’s River Project is set to transform the Port of Dubuque in Iowa, US.

The entertainment scheme will comprise a Great Rivers Center museum and IMAX-style RiverMax Theater as well as an expanded Diamond Jo Casino Entertainment Center.

The US$32m (£17.1m, 25.4m euro) Great Rivers Center will feature display galleries, a National Rivers Center, a Rivers Research Center and storefront retail.

The US$8m (£4.3m, 6.3m euro) RiverMax Theater will comprise a 250-seat theatre showing 3-D and 4-D films and a retail outlet.

The expanded US$50m (£26.8m, 39.7m euro), 35,000sq ft (3,250sq m) Diamond Jo Casino will include more than 1,000 slot machines, 17 table games, a poker room, a 36-lane bowling centre and three dining establishments: The Kitchen Buffet, the Farmer's Feast Cafe and a signature restaurant.

Diamond Joe Casino and Dubuque County Historical County will jointly fund and develop the project.

Construction will begin in early 2007, with the casino opening in early 2008 and the museum slated to open in 2010. Details: http://partners.dubuque365.com
