New spa at former Army barracks
POSTED 09 Jul 2007 . BY Sarah Todd
A resort spa is scheduled to open imminently at a former British Army barracks in Dempsey, Singapore.

Called House, the new spa is owned by the Spa Esprit group, the operator of the Strip, Mask, Browhaus and Spa Esprit brands. It cost SGD$5m (US$3.2m, 2.4m euro, £1.6m) to build.

Covering 32,000sq ft (2,972sq m), House will incorporate 21 treatment beds, three couples’ suites, facial rooms, a herbal gallery, outdoor gardens, a greenhouse and a modern apothecary. Other facilities will include mud pools for couples or groups, a library, a yoga studio and eight private rooms, for groups of between four and 30.

Treatments will use products made with organic herbs and fruits, while signature therapies will draw on Native American healing traditions. Products will be supplied by skincare brands Malin & Goetz and SCO.

In line with Spa Esprit’s human resources philosophy, opportunities for spa management positions at House will be offered to existing staff from other Spa Esprit sites first.

The Asia-based group has three spas under the Spa Esprit brand, alongside six Strip Outlets for waxing, two Mask Outlets for facials and five Browhaus eyebrow grooming sites.
