Warrington Wolves unveils stadium plans
POSTED 03 Mar 2011 . BY Pete Hayman
The south-east and north-east corners are to be filled in under the plans
Warrington Wolves rugby league team has announced plans to expand its Halliwell Jones Stadium ahead of the 2012 Super League season.

The venue first opened eight years ago and is now poised to undergo work to develop both corners of the Martin Dawes Stand (East) to increase capacity by 2,000.

Standing terraces from the Wolves' former Wilderspool ground were incorporated into the design of the Halliwell Jones Stadium and are to be retained going forward.

The south-east corner of the stadium will provide standing terrace space, with seating to be installed in the north-east corner. Jenkins Design Services and JLJ Engineering are working on the proposals.

It is anticipated that the expansion scheme will cost £2m and will enhance the club's bid to be included as a host venue at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
