The British Paralympic Association (BPA) has launched its new five-year strategic plan in a bid to use momentum generated by hosting this summer's Games to drive future progress.

Maximising Momentum covers the period until 2017 - comprising the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, and the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The publication of the strategic plan follows six months of consultation with BPA members and also includes the projected impact of London 2012 on disability sport in the UK.

A new vision for the BPA - Through sport, inspire a better world for disabled people - has been stated in the document, which chief executive Tim Hollingsworth said was a statement of intent.

"While we are ruthlessly focused on our preparations for 2012, we must also be ready to maximise the opportunities that will flow from the Games and to work with others to achieve our goals," said Hollingsworth.

"The excellence of the sport, and the inspirational impact it creates, has the ability to shift perceptions of disability and break down barriers in society."
