Bannatyne’s Fitness has invested £850,000 into four of its north east Health Clubs as part of a major upgrade to workout equipment.

The investment comes after The Bannatyne Group recently announced a £92m deal with M&G Investments for the sale and leaseback of the ground leases for 39 Bannatyne Health Clubs.

The company has turned to providers Technogym to replace cardiovascular machines at Coulby Newham in Middlesbrough, Ingleby Barwick in Stockton, plus Darlington and Durham

The new equipment includes docks for iPods, iPhones and USB sticks, allowing members to plug into the equipment directly and listen to their favourite music or watch instructional/motivational videos as they complete their exercise routine.

The company has invested £250,000 at Coulby Newham in ten treadmills, two upright bikes, three reclining bikes, eight cross-trainers and two Vario machines, which allow users to workout using a running action without impacting on joints.

At Darlington, £300,000 has been spent on 13 treadmills, four upright bikes, two steppers, a hand bike, four reclining bikes, ten cross-trainers and three Vario machines, while Durham has seen a £120,000 purchase of seven treadmills, eight cross-trainers and two Vario machines.

Ingelby Barwick has benefitted from a £180,000 investment in 10 treadmills, four upright bikes, two steppers, eight cross-trainers and two Vario machines.

Colin MacGillvray, north east regional manager at Bannatyne Fitness, said: “Continually investing in new workout equipment is hugely important because it ensures members are always able to access the very best and most up-to-date equipment to help them achieve their personal fitness goals.
