The new Rosewood Guangzhou hotel, located on the top 16 floors of Guangzhou, China’s tallest building will be home two a two-level Sense spa.

Coming in 2017 and located in the heart of Tianhe District’s central business area, near the Zaha Hadid -designed Guangzhou Opera House, the 251-bedroom hotel is in a 530m (1,738ft) tall building – amongst the 10 tallest in the world. It will have the fastest elevators in the world, reaching speeds of 20 metres per second.

Recreational facilities in the hotel include the Sense spa, which comprises eight treatment rooms, a health club and an indoor pool.

The ultra-luxury hotel will also feature 355 Rosewood Residences, 23 of which will be duplex apartments. Function space within the hotel amounts to 2,250sq m (24,200sq ft) which will comprise a residential-style meeting area, a grand ballroom of 970sq m (10,440sq ft) with a 700-person capacity, three function rooms, two VIP rooms, a bridal suite and a luxury terrace.

The hotel will feature seven food and beverage venues including three free-standing outdoor garden villas, which are combinable into one space for events. On the 107th floor, there will be a sky bar with a cigar humidor area and fully equipped wine corner and cellar. This bar will be the highest-situated bar in mainland China.

New York-based architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates was consulted on the project. Toronto-based Yabu Pushelberg designed the guestrooms, meeting spaces, restaurants and public areas while Super Potato from Tokyo designed the Chinese restaurant and bar. Hong Kong’s Perception directed the design of the Rosewood Residences and P Landscape from Bangkok created the arrival courtyard and multiple terraces.
