Matrix triumphs in battle for £25m Gym Group contract
POSTED 28 Nov 2014 . BY Jak Phillips
Matrix Fitness, which is owned by Taiwan-based Johnson Health Tech, has now signed three consecutive supply agreements with The Gym Group
Matrix Fitness has beaten off fierce competition from rivals to retain its supplier agreement with The Gym Group, in a new deal worth £25m over the next three years.

Having provided fitness kit to The Gym Group since 2008, Matrix was one of five leading suppliers to receive a request-for-proposal (RFP) as the growing gym chain sought to evaluate its equipment contract.

Life Fitness, Technogym, Precor, Cybex were also invited to tender for the supply of over 200 pieces of new equipment including resistance, cardiovascular, free weight and ancillary functional training equipment to the 51 existing gyms, the four new openings due before the end of 2014 and the pipeline of new openings. Additionally, the contract covers new equipment which will be installed as part of the company’s extensive programme of equipment refurbishments, undertaken as gyms reach five years of age.

“It was an extensive review process involving the sector’s leading suppliers, considering diligence on their products, supply and service credentials,” said COO of The Gym Group, Jim Graham.

“After detailed referencing and various site visits, our incumbent supplier Matrix met our exacting requirements, underlining the strong reputation it has developed internally over the last five years.”

Matrix Fitness, which is owned by Taiwan-based Johnson Health Tech (JHT), has now signed three consecutive supply agreements with The Gym Group.

“Since our inception, we have worked hard to deliver innovative and durable products for their gym floor, but perhaps more importantly, have developed inventive partnership solutions to support their growth,” said Matrix Fitness UK managing director Jon Johnston.

“Having undergone The Gym Group’s stringent and professional procurement process, we now look forward to working even more closely with them over the next three years, continuing to deliver outstanding products that are backed up by first class customer support and maintenance.”
