World's largest drop ride joins game-changing rollercoaster in Orlando
POSTED 17 Feb 2015 . BY Tom Anstey
The Skyscraper coaster and Skyfall drop ride will form the centrepiece of a new entertainment complex on Orlando's International Drive
In addition to having the world’s tallest rollercoaster, Orlando’s International Drive has announced a second cloud-touching attraction in the form of Skyfall, the world’s largest drop ride.

Standing at more than 460ft (140m), the drop ride will join the 570ft (174m)-high Skyscraper coaster at the US$250m (£162.5m, €219.1m) shopping and entertainment complex currently under development.

Skyfall will be an addition to the Skyscraper Tower – which will also be home to the rollercoaster. The ride will drop at speeds of 90mph (145kmph).

Miami-based Wallack Holdings is behind the new ride and is also involved in several developments along the I-Drive tourism corridor, most notably the 50,000sq ft (4,645sq m) Mango’s Tropical Café, set to open later this year.

Opening in Q2 2017, the record-breaking Skyscraper coaster, designed by US Thrill Rides, will shoot riders 570ft into the air at speeds of up to 65mph (105kmph). The innovative design sees the ride travel vertically around a supporting tower, offering four minutes of twists and turns within an incredibly confined space. The tower will also feature an observation deck and the Skyfall drop ride.
