Childhood obesity campaign combines physical activity with altruism

Technogym aims to engage more than 50 UK health clubs in this year's challenge
Technogym is urging health clubs around the world to get their members moving during March with the added incentive of helping to tackle childhood obesity.

The latest iteration of Technogym’s Let’s Move for a Better World challenge sees exercisers earn ‘MOVE’ points – Technogym’s movement unit of measure – for their workouts using the supplier’s equipment, which can then be donated to a good cause. At the end of the challenge – which runs from 2 to 22 March – the club in each country that accumulates the highest number of MOVE points will win the chance to donate a Technogym training circuit to a school within its local community.

Organisers hope to build on the impact of last year’s campaign, which saw more than 21,000 people in 180 fitness clubs around the globe participating in the challenge, collecting more than 100 million MOVEs in total. The number of MOVE points accumulated by clubs is stored and tracked on the Technogym Ecosystem, an open platform which includes equipment, services, content, programmes and Technogym’s cloud computing platform - mywellness cloud.

According to Technogym: “Let’s Move for a Better World represents a great opportunity for clubs to attract new members, thanks to both the initiative’s communication campaign through web and social media, as well as the viral effect created by existing members sharing their training sessions online.”
