This is the third development under the Six Flags banner to be announced for outside of North America
Six Flags has announced plans to open two of its parks in Vietnam, expanding its Asian footprint.

Using the Six Flags and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor names under a licensing agreement, Vietnam-based NaVi Entertainment will build both a theme park and a waterpark near Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the third development under the Six Flags banner to be announced for outside of North America, where the operator runs 18 parks. Both Six Flags attractions in Vietnam are expected to open by 2020 or 2021.

“Our international licensing strategy is gaining momentum and provides strong long-term upside for the company above and beyond the growth opportunity of our North American properties,” said John Duffey, president and CEO of Six Flags.

All of Six Flags’ deals outside of North America have operated under licensing agreements. Six Flags doesn’t pay for the park’s construction, but gains earnings through use of its trademarks. Aside from the Vietnam parks, deals have also been agreed for Six Flags locations in China and Dubai with “further talks” with other overseas developers.
