Six Flags using Pokémon Go to draw visitors with trainer guides
POSTED 18 Jul 2016 . BY Tom Anstey
Six Flags is using the popularity of Pokémon Go to try and entice visitors to its parks
As digital overlays are starting to increasingly affect our physical spaces, Six Flags is capitalising on the huge success of Pokémon Go, offering visitors to each of its parks a handy guide on how to ‘catch em’ all’.

With a personalised guide for each of its parks in the US and Mexico, Six Flags is offering tips on preparation for Pokémon trainers before they go to the park, what to do when they get there and how to stay safe while playing.

With each park offering several gyms – places users battle for control of using their Pokémon – and many Pokéstops for item collection, Six Flags has identified which ride or location they are located at and have placed them on a park map for visitors to browse.

Incorporating existing facilities at its park, Six Flags’ guide directs visitors to useful items such as phone charging stations. The park also urges sensible play, telling visitors not to go into unauthorised areas and not to try and play the game while on rides.

The augmented reality game is gaining unprecedented success, with more daily users than Twitter and more people spending time on the app than on Facebook. Those numbers are only expected to increase as the game is released in more countries, most recently Germany and the UK.
