The annual Euro Attractions Show (EAS) was declared open this morning. Amid the typical glitzy fanfare of the opening ceremony, with IAAPA heads surrounded by dancers and acrobats, organisation chair John McReynolds called on attendees to find the idea that would revolutionise their business.

The trade show, which runs today through Thursday at the Fira Gran Via Convention Centre in Barcelona, Spain, is the biggest in its history, with more than 500 exhibitors on the floor and an expected 10,000 attendees.

IAAPA, which represents 34 theme parks and waterparks in Spain, makes its return to Barcelona for the first time since its summer meeting 15 years ago.

"There's something nostalgic about coming to EAS because the roots of our industry run so deep here in Europe," McReynolds said. "Our industry here has mastered the ability to conjure up feelings of yesterday while creating new memories for today and tomorrow. EAS intertwines tradition with innovation."

McReynolds added: "Find that one idea on that exhibit floor that will make a difference in your business. Whether it's a new ride, ticket technology, a more efficient way to maintain your facility or the next food and beverage idea. There are hundreds of ideas and solutions on the floor waiting for you. Find at least one that will make a difference in your business and I guarantee you will find this week worthwhile."
