Disney makes Rogue One additions to Hollywood Studios park
POSTED 22 Dec 2016 . BY Tom Anstey
Rogue One was released worldwide on 16 December
Following the release of Rogue One – the latest film to come out of the Star Wars universe – Disney’s Hollywood Studios has premiered a number of new features inspired by the film at the park, with plans for further Star Wars additions in 2017.

Premiered on 16 December, Star Wars Launch Bay – the new multi-sensory space celebrating the franchise – has been updated with authentic replicas from the new film, while its preview gallery has gained new making-of footage.

Disney’s daytime stage show has also been updated, with visitors able to see AWR Troopers from Rogue One, outfitted in dark Stormtrooper outfits and joining the daily performances of “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away”.

For the park’s popular Star Tours simulator, the attraction will now be randomised to both start and end at different locations, with new scenes from “Star Wars: Episode VIII” also to be added to in the coming year.

Coming in 2017, Disney has announced its first-ever themed tour – a seven-hour immersion in everything Star Wars created for avid fans of the franchise.

Starting on 2 January, included will be an expert tour guide, who will take visitors around all of the park’s current Star Wars experiences, with priority boarding for Star Tours, encounters with Chewbacca and Kylo Ren, an-depth insider’s tour of Star Wars Launch Bay, a screening of Star Wars: Path of the Jedi and dinner at the Backlot Express all included in the special ticket. For children aged 4 to 12, the guided tour package will also train them in the way of the force in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple.

Disney offered a preview of its upcoming Star Wars lands being built in Florida and California earlier this year, with the expansions – which will feature among a host of themed attractions a virtual reality Millennium Falcon ride and the iconic cantina first seen in Star Wars: Episode IV – to be the largest in the operator’s history.
