Sports minister to deliver keynote on tackling physical inactivity
POSTED 12 Apr 2017 . BY Deven Pamben
Crouch has been sports minister since May 2015
Sports minister Tracey Crouch MP will deliver this year’s keynote address at Elevate, the UK’s largest cross-sector event focused on tackling physical inactivity.

Speaking alongside representatives from Public Health England, CIMSPA and Greater Manchester Leisure and Cultural Trusts, the minister will address how the industry can transform the delivery of physical activity through new ways of working.

The session will examine how the sector can work innovatively and collaboratively to be more productive, efficient and profitable, while also meeting social and community priorities.

Elevate aims to address the root cause of physical inactivity with experts from the sector, academia, healthcare, government and sports performance attending the two-day event.

The industry employs approximately 400,000 people, with the workforce potentially having a key role in improving the nation’s health and wellbeing.

The Department of Culture Media and Sport published its first annual report on its Sporting Future strategy in February. Speaking at a ukactive event last month, Crouch discussed what role the physical activity sector could play in delivering the outcomes of the government’s strategy, commenting that “since the release of Sporting Future, definite progress has been made, but there is still more to do to build an active Britain.”

Elevate takes place on 10-11 May 2017 at Excel in London, UK.
