Triotech has announced a major partnership with Ubisoft, with plans to create a virtual reality maze based on the Assassin’s Creed IP.

Announced by Deborah Papiernik, senior vice president of new business for Ubisoft, the new attraction follows on from a Raving Rabbids VR maze unveiled at IAAPA.

“The first content is based on Raving Rabbids,” said Papiernik. I’m happy to announce that we are also developing content based on our Assassin’s Creed IP. It’s a brand critically acclaimed for it’s highly accurate historical worlds. The rich franchise has launched 10 major videogames in 10 years, selling 110 million copies, and has more than 75 million unique players. It is Ubisoft’s top franchise and one of the top franchises in the videogame industry.

The maze itself will be based on Ubisoft's latest game, and will let you explore the mysteries of an Egyptian temple, wearing a VR headset while exploring a physical maze.

Assassin’s Creed fans of course are always playing on their console but now it’s the first time they’ll be able to interact in the physical world,” said Ernest Yale, president and CEO of Triotech, speaking to Attractions Management following the launch.

“They’ll be able to go around the Egyptian pyramids, feel the walls and be surprised around the corners with the maze’s special effects - many of which we can’t reveal right now. We think it’s going to be a way of living in the world of Assassin's Creed, creating an amazing experience in partnership with Ubisoft.”

Yale added that plans will hopefully go beyond Assassin’s Creed and Raving Rabbids, with plans to look further into Ubisoft’s portfolio to bring more IP’s to life in the future.

“We hope it’s going to be a continuing partnership,” he said. Right now we’re doing Raving Rabbids and today we’ve announced Assassin's Creed. Ubisoft has a large library of titles and we like working with them. I think this will be a long term partnership for us.”

The experience is due for release in 2018, though a location has not yet been revealed.
