Six Senses Fiji opens with nature-focused Spa Village

The resort includes 24 villas with private pools as well as 60 residences
Six Senses’ newest resort in Fiji has opened with a Six Senses Spa designed as a contemporary interpretation of a traditional Fijian village.

Designed by New Zealand-based architect Richard Priest, Six Senses Fiji includes 24 pool villas and 60 residential villas located along a private sandy beach. The 60 residences and all facilities are 100 per cent solar powered by the largest microgrid in Fiji to use Tesla batteries.

Surrounded by tropical jungle, the Six Senses Spa design embodies the philosophy that wellbeing is linked to the benefits of nature, and includes cascading water features that flow into a tropical greenbelt featuring fig and banyan trees. The greenbelt provides a home for rare iguanas and also offers healing visual and auditory experiences for spa guests.

The Spa Village is entered via stepping stones leading to the arrival bure (lounge), designed as a place to socialise, relax, explore the resort’s wellness offerings and make reservations.

Four treatment lounges are secluded between the trees around a circular path. Resembling traditional village bures, their organic and earthy design combines a neutral colour palette with grounding dark timber floors and wooden beams.

Outdoor wet facilities include a herbal sauna, steamroom, cold and hot plunge pools, waterfall showers, and outdoor hanging relaxation area. There is also an outdoor yoga and meditation pavilion with ocean views.

The spa menu includes Six Senses signature massages along with ayurveda, aromatherapy-inspired treatments and results-driven facials from Subtle Energies. Locally inspired scrubs and wraps incorporate Fijan healing customs and traditions.

If guests prefer to blend their own ingredients for a body scrub, wrap or face mask, the Alchemy Bar features floor to ceiling shelves with ceramic and glass pots filled with oils, local herbs, fruits and spices.

Rituals include an empowering woman’s journey and a signature sleep treatment from Subtle Energies.

The spa also features Six Senses Integrated Wellness, a holistic approach to wellness that includes personalised wellness, sleep health, mindful eating, movement and self-discovery.

There is also a Retail Therapy Corner, male and female changing areas with lockers, indoor and outdoor showers and a communal relaxation area.

An indoor fitness room is equipped with TechnoGym and Life Fitness equipment.

A Six Senses retail collection sells yoga wear and mats, wellness gemstone water bottles, jewellery and locally sourced throws, candles, burners and other accessories. There is also a full range of skincare products displayed on organically-shaped timber counters and shelves.

The villas at Six Senses Fiji include natural hand-made mattress by Naturalmat, along with cotton bedding and energy-boosting snacks.

The food at the resort is designed to be sustainably-sourced and full of local ingredients, with a simple, natural preparation focusing on quality, balance and fresh whole food made from scratch, while avoiding flavour-enhancers, lectins, lactose, gluten and sugar.

For guests who want to go deeper and discover more about their health, a non-invasive screening measures key physiological biomarkers such as heart rate, tissue oxygen uptake and distribution, arterial stiffness and stress parameters.

The results enable Six Senses wellness experts to provide lifestyle and nutritional advice, and design a personalised program of spa treatments, fitness and wellness activities based on the preventative principles of Eastern medicine and results-oriented Western influences.

The programmes help to address the most common concerns around digestion, weight loss, elimination of built up toxins, weakened immune system, sleep, stress relief, muscle toning or building better stamina.

Yogic Programs including Discover Yoga, Yogic Detox and Yogic Sleep enable guests to experience yoga in a deeper and more profound way, combining the skills of in-house yoga masters with the healing properties of the surrounding environment.

Visiting practitioners ranging from ayurvedic doctors to osteopaths, facialists, aura readers and healers will be hosted at the spa throughout the year.
