Four Seasons Boston to have entire floor of wellness

The pièce de résistance of the wellness floor is the 64-foot (20-metre) lap pool that arcs in concert with the building's curved windows
Rising 61 storeys above the thriving Back Bay neighbourhood, the all-new Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston is due to open shortly in one of America's most historic cities, complete with a full-floor spa.

The soaring glass skyscraper – now the city's third tallest building at 724 feet or 220 metres – was designed by Harry Cobb of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners in collaboration with Gary Johnson of Cambridge 7 Associates.

Surrounding the elliptical "guitar pick"-shaped building are three distinct streetscapes by landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh, including a 5,000sq ft (465sq m) park adjacent to the building's entrance.

The Hotel's 215 hotel rooms and suites boast floor-to-ceiling windows, and original works from the Hotel's multi-million dollar art collection curated by Kate Chertavian complement interior design by Bill Rooney of Bill Rooney Studio.

The spa and wellness centre spans the entire 7th floor of the hotel, and is dedicated to holistic and innovative experiences. The spa features five treatment rooms, including one couples’ suite, and male and female locker rooms each have steam rooms and rainfall showers. A relaxation area overlooks the city.

The wellness floor features custom Italian mosaic art installations throughout, and massage and facial treatments use medically inspired and organic brands, including 111 Skin, Soveral, Gloss Moderne and Cote. McKenzie Cassidy has been named spa manager.

There's also a salon offering hair, nails and makeup services – a plus for bridal parties celebrating marriage at the hotel, as well as those who just want to look their best every day.

The hotel’s gym features Precor equipment as chosen by Four Seasons partner and celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, with many machines offering floor-to-ceiling views, as well as a private yoga and Pilates studio.

Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street will be home to the newest Zuma restaurant. Designed by Noriyoshi Muramatsu of Tokyo-based Studio Glitt, the interiors incorporate the natural elements of earth, fire, water and air.

"Like the city, everything about this hotel has a youthful feel," said general manager Reed Kandalaft. "It's all forward thinking, fresh and contemporary at every turn."
