GM of Miraval Austin, Anthony Duggan, has been appointed area vice president of Miraval Group and its three award-winning wellness resorts – Miraval Arizona, Miraval Austin and Miraval Berkshires.

In his new role, Duggan will provide operational direction for the resorts, leading with creativity and care to ensure the guest experience upholds Miraval’s promise to inspire a life in balance and that guest comfort and wellbeing remains paramount.

“One of the most important qualities I look for in a leader is someone who can lead with a purposeful heart and soul,” said Susan Santiago, head of lifestyle and Miraval Operations at Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

“Anthony has led Miraval Austin with passion and care since he joined in 2019, helping colleagues and guests not only navigate these difficult times but foster a sense of resilience and balance in their lives.

“I look forward to seeing him bring his expertise and empathy to Miraval’s three resorts across the country.”

Duggan will continue his role as GM of Miraval Austin alongside his new responsibilities as area vice president.

When Miraval Austin temporarily paused operations at the onset of the pandemic, Duggan spearheaded an initiative to donate the organic produce grown on its 10-acre Cypress Creek Farm to colleagues in the Austin area.

Once the property resumed operations, he was also responsible for continually reimagining its offerings to reflect new safety protocols and feedback from guests and colleagues to ensure that each guest could feel safe, inspired and restored while on property.

For example, working hand-in-hand with Miraval’s wellbeing specialists, he expanded the resort’s outdoor offerings to allow guests to experience the therapeutic benefits of nature while also social distancing.

“As we enter a time when wellbeing is paramount, I’m confident the experience we offer will help each of our guests cultivate balance and gratitude, empowering them to stay grounded and hopeful for the future,” Duggan shared.

“I’m honoured to be a part of Miraval’s mission of providing imaginative and life-enhancing wellness experiences across the country for years to come.”

Before joining Miraval Austin, he spent more than 25 years in hospitality, leading iconic global resorts, including Amangiri in Utah, L’Auberge de Sedona in Arizona, Fairmont Kea Lani in Hawaii and Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park.

During his time at Miraval Austin, the property has earned numerous accolades and awards including being named one of the top “Destination Spa Resorts in the US” by Conde Nast Traveler’s 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards, one of the “Top 15 Domestic Spas” by Travel + Leisure’s 2020 World’s Best Awards, as well as “North America’s Best Resort Spa 2020” from The World Spa Awards.
