Educational organisation The Power of Touch (TPOT) will host a virtual conference this October designed to educate and empower health and wellness professionals treating clients living with and beyond cancer.

Hosted on 4-6 October, the three-day event is being designed to offer an improved understanding of the disease, by bringing together international speakers to share their insights and celebrate what is possible, practical and beneficial within the spa and salon environment and service provision.

The conference will be the first in a series to be launched by TPOT and is CPD-accredited.

The speaker lineup features over 18 guest experts and professional speakers, including bestselling author and cancer survivor Jane McLelland, multi-award-winning reflexology practitioner, researcher and author Sally Kay and oncology nurse and integrative cancer care specialist Patricia Peat.

Topics covered will include a deep dive into the science of cancer and the most common clinical treatments for it, alongside a journey through a wide range of evidence-based complementary therapies and adaptations, diagnostics, new innovations, prevention methodologies and approaches to radical management of the illness.

Sessions will run from 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm each day – plus a 6 pm to 9 pm bonus session on the Tuesday evening.

TPOT founder, Michelle Hammond said: “Cancer touches everyone at some point in our lives and with TPOT having been born from our initial body of research on The challenges of treating clients with cancer back in 2013, we thought it crucial to open our series of educational events centred on this important topic.

“We know our industry professionals have a real desire to do more for the clients that need them most and a thirst for knowledge that’ll enable them to better support their clients living with and beyond cancer confidently, comfortably and effectively.

“We’re so excited to offer spa, beauty, health and wellness professionals the chance to deepen their understanding on this subject so we’ve designed these 18 hours of CPD content to be entirely evidence-based and wellness-focused.”

Early bird tickets are being sold at £119 (€138, US$164) each until 15 September. After this point, individual tickets will cost £139 (€162, US$192).

To register your interest in the first online conference email [email protected] and head to TPOT’s official website.

Further conferences are planned into 2022 with topics including Gut Health, Mind and Mood, Women’s Health and a delve into Heart Health.
