Flagstaff Hill, the Maritime Park in Victoria, Australia has been transformed by a AUS$5.7m government grant.
The park has been given a special effects 'makeover' to recreate the atmosphere of an early Australian colonial harbour.
A theatre incorporating audio-visual displays teaches visitors about the history of the Victoria coastline, before they begin a multi-media journey around the park in motorised buggies following a story called 'Shipwrecked'- a laser and video projection which tells the tale of the ship, Loch Ard, wrecked on its way over from England.
Under the creative direction of project director Acumen, the video recreation was produced by Melbourne-based The Pod, while the special effects, including lasers, water screens, fireworks and the recreation of a violent storm were provided by New South Wales-based Laservision Macro Media.
Chair of Victorian Tourism, Tom Smith, said: 'The criticism of Flagstaff Hill over the years has been the lack of activation, but now the whole village is brought to life.'
