Watford leisure centre due to open
POSTED 16 May 2008 . BY Luke Tuchscherer
Woodside Leisure Centre in Watford is due to open on 7 June.

The centre will feature an eight-lane, 25m swimming pool, a learner pool, an eight-court sports hall, a 100-station gym kitted out by Precor, dance studios, squash courts and other external facilities.

Woodside will be operated by Sports and Leisure Management (SLM), as part of a 10-year partnership with Watford Borough Council.

London-based Studio E Architects designed the centre, which is being built by Pellikaan.

The centre is hosting an open day on 7 June to mark the occasion and will invite visitors to try out a variety of sports and activities including basketball, martial arts, trampolining, line dancing and swimming.

Duncan Jefford, contracts manager at SLM, said: “The idea behind the open day is to get both adults and kids to try as many different types of activity as possible.

“We want them to see that Woodside can offer fantastic facilities and a wide variety of sports that will be available to the whole community.”
