Azerai La Residence in Hue, Vietnam – the second hotel from renowned hotelier Adrian Zecha – has unveiled a newly refurbished luxury spa which is more than 50 percent larger than before, and boasts new thermotherapy areas for men and women, in addition to a range of new treatments.

The two-time winner of the World Luxury Spa Award for Vietnam’s “Best Luxury Boutique Spa” (in 2013 and 2017) now encompasses 545 square meters (from 360 square meters before the renovation), with high-end amenities, including six inspired treatment rooms decorated with eclectic details of the great 1930s Art Deco era, along with classic Finnish-style saunas, luxury steam rooms, an ice fountain, and more.

Situated on the ground floor of the hotel’s west wing next to a new gymnasium, Le Spa offers two double treatment rooms and four single treatment rooms, each with a fully private dressing area, vanity and shower, as well as a lounge sofa.

The redesign features a sophisticated minimalist aesthetic, with neutral color tones and Art Deco flourishes, and was completed by the French-Canadian architect Pascal Trahan, who also designed the tropical bungalows at Azerai Resort Can Tho.

The renovation entailed not just an expansion, but a rebuild from the ground up and the walls in. The new spa features stone floors, tall ceilings and a simple, elegant design.

“With the relaunch of Le Spa, we are signalling that Azerai La Residence, Hue intends to be a destination for spa lovers not only in Vietnam but throughout the region,” said Phan Trong Minh, the general manager of the hotel.

Le Spa has long been known for using spa products made from local ingredients, such as coffee, sea salt and green tea in its body scrubs and other treatments.

With the refurbishment, the hotel also brought in a new spa manager, Ronald Mutuc, a 20-year hospitality industry veteran, who oversees Le Spa’s staff of more than a dozen therapists and spa associates.

The new thermotherapy offered at Le Spa is a procedure designed to “wake up” one’s senses, as guests move from warm, drenching showers to an ice fountain and back, alternating between hot and cold experiences. The ice fountains produce ice flakes that guests can apply to their body and limbs, creating a revitalising sensation. Guests can use the thermotherapy areas before or after their treatments.

Le Spa has also introduced several new signature treatments. “Le Spa Experience” is a 150-minute treatment that includes aroma body touch therapy, a sea salt and honey body scrub, a detoxifying mud wrap, and a mini facial.

Other new offerings include a 90-minute “Pampering” treatment, comprised of a green tea body scrub, nourishing mud wrap, and mini facial to promote revitalisation and purifying effects; “Vital Leg Hot Stone Therapy,” which is designed to treat fatigue and general discomfort of the legs and feet; and “Bamboo Leg Therapy,” in which bamboo is used to massage the legs, reducing water retention and adipose tissue, while releasing muscular tension in the legs.

The new gymnasium, which moved from the top floor of the west wing to the ground floor beside the spa, features state-of-the-art fitness equipment, including weight machines, free weights, treadmills and more.
