Aman plans desert encampment with stargazing and Navajo wellness
POSTED 21 Nov 2019 . BY Megan Whitby
The destination will be named Camp Sarika by Amangiri.
Aman is set to expand its Utah desert resort with a standalone luxury desert encampment, billed to open in April 2020.

Called Camp Sarika by Amangiri, the destination is a 30-minute hike or five-minute drive away from Amangiri and will have 10 tented-pavilions, two spa suites, a main pavilion, restaurant, swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Surrounded by five national parks, Camp Sarika is scheduled to be completed by March and will overlook mesa rock formations.

Luxury Frontiers have designed the tented pavilions which will feature either one or two bedrooms, a living area, dining area, bar, private terrace with a fire pit and an individual heated plunge pool.

The camp's two spa suites will offer spa therapies inspired by traditional Navajo wellness practices – the Native American people of the Southwestern US – while yoga and meditation will be offered al fresco. Treatments will use in-house brand, Aman Skincare.

Guests will also be able to visit the Aman Spa at Amangiri, which offers hydrotherapy treatments, a flotation pavilion, five indoor treatment rooms and two outdoor treatment terraces with panoramic desert views.

A range of activities will be available, including hiking, canyoning, nightly storytelling and stargazing, horseback riding and climbing Via Ferrata – a protected route.

The on-site restaurant will have an open kitchen which will use local produce to cater for all guests, including vegetarians and vegans. Reserved for camp residents during the day, the restaurant will be open to all Amangiri guests in the evening and provide indoor and outdoor seating.
