Luxury Irish spa resort, The Johnstown Estate, in County Meath, has invested €3.5m (US$4.13m, £3.18m) in creating a new spa nearly twice the size of its previous facility, scheduled to launch early November 2020.

Located at an original 18th-century Georgian Residence, the new spa is being upgraded with a variety of new wellness experiences and will also become the flagship Irish spa for British product house, Elemis, and luxury spa equipment supplier, Gharieni.

The existing spa has been completely remodelled and expanded, now covering approximately 1,300sq m with a new outdoor rooftop experience and thermal suite, plus 15 treatment rooms including a Rasul, mineral treatment bath and couples’ treatment room.

The rooftop experience will include a hydrotherapy pool, Jacuzzi, hot tub, outdoor showers, heated pergola lounge and relaxation area, plus a sun deck.

The spa’s new thermal suite will offer guests the opportunity to experience a Kneipp path, salt grotto, experience showers, a Quiet Room with heated water beds, steamroom, sauna and relaxation area.
The reimagined facility will feature cutting-edge Gharieni technology including its Psammotherapy and Aqua-beds, plasma and light treatment technologies and sound wave therapies.

The overhaul has also added a 48-seat in-spa restaurant to the destination.

The overhaul was conceived by Millimetre Design, the interior design and branding studio which created Johnstown’s Fire & Salt Restaurant, Coach House Brasserie, The Atrium and many of the other spaces at the 167-key Johnstown Estate.

“Our investment in the spa at The Johnstown Estate is a clear commitment to Irish tourism and our belief that COVID-19 will pass in time,” said Anthony Smiddy, GM at The Johnstown Estate.

“We remain stringently observant of all safety measures but would like clients to feel they can leave their stresses at the door and safely enjoy a few hours of uninterrupted blissful relaxation at the new spa.”
