3d Leisure has acquired franchised studio operator Yourzone45 from Elms Fitness Group for an undisclosed sum.

Elms Fitness is led by industry veterans Andy Kay, Mhairi Fitzpatrick and Jeremy Taylor.

The company has developed the YourZone45 franchise over the past five years, growing the network to five sites in the UK.

YourZone45 secured a second round of funding in August 2019, with the view of expanding its footprint across the UK and overseas.

The YourZone45 boutique model is based on delivering instructor-led, 'body-changing' 45-minute HIIT workouts.

Using Myzone heart-rate technology, the workouts are designed to 'burn the maximum number of calories, build strength, increase energy, overcome workout plateaus and tone and shape the body'.

The workouts – based on interval training – are split into a number of blocks, each comprising a 4-9 minute routine with rests in between.

Studios range in size from 1,500 to 3,000sq ft with classes catering for up to 20 participants.

Paul Ramsay, 3d Leisure managing director, said: "We're now reviewing the current franchisee support offered to see where we can add more value and we're hoping to develop the product and service and we will aim to grow the network through engaging with more fitness entrepreneurs around the UK."

Established in 1991, 3d leisure manages around 100 hotel gyms in the UK on a contract basis.
