Luxury hospitality brand Park Hyatt Group has announced plans to develop a new resort and residential community on Phu Quoc, Vietnam's largest island.

The getaway, which will be situated on 160 acres of sea-facing land in the vicinity of the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve, will comprise 110 rooms and 65 residences, as well as two dining outlets and swimming pools.

Other facilities will include a bar, spa, gym, organic farm, and "kids village".

Set to launch in 2022 around the same as the opening of Hyatt's Ho Chi Minh City hotel, the property will be developed by Vietnamese real estate company BIM Group.

In a statement, David Udell, the Asia-Pacific group president of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, said: "We are pleased to embark on our relationship with BIM Group with this landmark project to bring the Park Hyatt brand's refined residential and luxurious hospitality to Phu Quoc."

Le Minh Dung, vice general director at BIM Group, remarked that the future retreat would be "meticulously created with authentic local designs and craftsmanship".

Hyatt currently boasts 850 properties in 60 countries; the Phu Quoc venue will be the company's fifth resort to open in Vietnam.
