EuropeActive has held its latest International Standards Meeting (ISM) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The theme for this year's event was “The need for specialisation and differentiation in Personal Training”.

The programme of panel sessions and keynote speeches touched on a number of key focus areas – such as European educational standards, the region's fitness trends and the differentiation of personal training.

There were also sessions aimed at helping exercise professionals find ways to fully exploit the potential for skills development within the sector.

Now in its 10th year, the annual ISM aims to build cooperation within the global fitness sector and to improve educationional opportunities – as well as widen the recognition – of exercise professionals and the fitness sector as a whole.

"The ISM is our main event for training providers, employers, practitioners and other key stakeholders in the fitness and wellness industry," EuropeActive said.

"It has becomeone of the most important vocational education events in Europe with the goal aimed at ensuring high, comparable and standardised training of fitness professionals, resulting in happy and healthy people across Europe."
