PGA Spa planned for Laterra resort in Florida
POSTED 27 Jul 2004 . BY
A new 9,000sq ft spa is planned as part of the Laterra residential development at Florida’s World Golf Village in the US.

Designed by Robert D Henry Architects of New York, the PGA Tour Spa Laterra will offer a range of services including therapeutic massage, hot stone treatments, hydrotherapy services, tropical body scrubs, detoxifying mud wraps and aromatherapy facials.

As well as a number of indoor treatment rooms and a circular relaxation room with a central fountain, the spa will boast an outdoor garden and large reflecting pool containing three floating, wooden teahouses acting as massage pavilions.

The infinity-edge pool also leads to an outdoor hot tub.

A further couples’ treatment room overlooks the garden but also offers its own garden and fountain.

Robert Henry said the spa has been designed as a series of ‘distinctive sensory environments’ incorporating the ‘soothing energy of water in its many forms – fountains, streams, pools and reflecting ponds’.

“I look at the spa experience as a sensuous journey,” he said. “I want each person to slow down to experience the environment through all five senses.”

The 41-acre Laterra resort is a luxury community being developed within the World Golf Village’s King & Bear golf course – the only course to have been jointly designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.

It will contain studios as well as a mixture of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units with the main building, which will house the spa, due for completion at the end of this year.

The World Golf Village also includes a further gold course, the Slammer & Squire; the Seranata Beach Club; the World Golf Hall of Fame and the World Golf IMAX Theater.

Robert D Henry has designed many day and destination spas around the world; including the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, the Spa at Le Reve in Las Vegas, the Amelia Island Plantation Spa and the Bay Club Beach Club and Spa in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii.
