Bryte develops AI smart-bed to improve and optimise restorative sleep

Silicon Valley tech startup, Bryte, proposes that hotels need to commit to in-room wellness in every guest room – for Bryte, the true catalyst to in-room wellness is through improving restorative sleep.

Bryte has collaborated with sleep scientists to develop The Restorative Bed, a purpose-built mattress to improve and optimise restorative sleep using built-in sensors which monitor heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate and motion.

Ely Tsern, Bryte co-founder and CEO, commented: “For a hotel to address wellness at scale, they must start with the foundation of health and wellness itself: sleep. And when you seek to improve sleep, the most important product to consider is the bed."

The product is designed to fit into luxury settings and contains advanced technology, pneumatics and AI that actively decreases wake events, while increasing deep sleep and REM sleep.

"In order for wellness to be relevant, accessible and make a difference in hospitality it’s time for it to expand out of the walls of spa and fitness and into guestrooms where we can improve their health while they sleep," said Amy McDonald, CEO of Under a Tree, and hospitality advisor to Bryte.

Laced with 100 computer-controlled pneumatic coils, the mattress keeps track of individual sleep partners’ sleep status, sensing pressure points and temperature and making real-time adjustments for optimum comfort.

From the first sleep, Bryte claims guests can expect to fall asleep more quickly, experience fewer night-time waking events and wake naturally feeling refreshed and energised.

The bed helps guests fall asleep by creating a quiet, head-to-toe motion beneath the body and also gently wakes them by warming the mattress’ temperature and using an optional gentle movement to nudge sleepers softly awake.

After use, each guest’s preferences are consequently anonymously stored in Bryte’s secure cloud app – Restorative Cloud, letting guests log in to any Restorative Bed at any Bryte hotel location and have their bed configured to their preferences.

Tsern went on: “One truth we’ve learned about sleep is that it is deeply personal. What encourages sleep for one person may disrupt it for another.”

Unlike other consumer-grade sleep technology companies, Bryte is focused on the hospitality industry, with a premium, hospitality-grade package tailored for luxury hotels. According to Bryte, the bed is designed to solve one of the longest-standing pain points facing hoteliers: how can they choose one bed to delight every single guest that will sleep on it?

The Restorative Bed and Bryte’s hospitality package is available now and will soon be rolling out across several luxury and wellness-centric hotel brands in the US, during Q3 2020.
